Happy (Belated) Independence Day

Happy Independence Day!!!

We had a great weekend!

Friday my wonderful hubby watched the boys so I could do a little shopping. I needed to buy some shorts/capris for our upcoming (in 6 days!) trip to Florida. Unfortunately, growing & birthing twins has done things to my lower body that may never be repaired & nothing from last summer fits right. I was able to find some nice sales and came home with 2 pairs of shorts, 2 new pairs of jeans, swim shorts, and some cute shorts for the boys (not planned, but too cute & to good of a deal to pass up!)

Saturday we took the boys to their first parade. They loved all the sights & people. At the start of the parade there was a Black Hawk helicopter that flew very close to the street. It was amazing & Benjamin couldn't take his eyes off it. He watched it until you couldn't see it anymore. Joseph didn't like the motorcycles, but loved the bands. A favorite of both boys was the banana that one of the parade participants was passing out! Yummy!

My sister Pam & her husband Nate were able to come with & we loved having them. Aunt Pam is probably Benjamin's favorite person (other than Mommy & Daddy of course). From the time he was very little he responded to Pam in a special way. Somehow I think he senses a similarity between me & my sister. Aunt Pam can always get the best giggles out of both boys!

Saturday evening we went to a party thrown by the newly married Chris & Mandy. It was fun to be in their home & see all the newly added feminine touches. It was a good time with friends. Then in the evening Pam & Nathan joined us again so the boys (no not Benjamin & Joseph...Doug & Nate) could "play" their games together (they both LOVE strategy games) & Pam and I could do what girls to best...talk (smile). Because the boys are wanting to go to be so early right now, we skipped the fireworks this year.

Sunday was church as usually, but there was a brass concert which was a nice treat. We got the boys from the nursery so they could enjoy the last little bit of the concert.

Today...life as usual. I am starting to make my "to do" & "to pack" lists. It is amazing how much planning it takes for a trip once you have children!
