Death

This past Saturday we attended the funeral of my husband's Grandmother, Doris Jennings.
We loved her very much.

Handling the subject of death with the boys was something I put much prayer into.  We made the decision early on to not "hide" the reality of everything that was happening from the boys, but instead to embrace the weekend as an opportunity to teach.

Death is not the end.
Christ has had the victory over death.
He will return.
Believers, we know, who have experienced death will be resurrected, just as He was.

As we moved through the events of the weekend, I have been blessed with some precious conversations with both boys about the hope that we have in death, and in life.
They don't understand it all yet.
But, God is working in their little hearts and I am blessed to be able to have a part in seeing that happen.

"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind who have no hope.  For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him."  1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
